What a thought!

3:52 PM

My friend posted this on face book and it was something that I absolutely wanted to share with all of my readers!

Modesty is something that I am passionate about and ever since getting married it is something I am even more passionate about because the lack of modesty that is so prevalent in our world today effects my husband and someday will effect my son.

What a difference I believe there would be if we began to truly think how we would want other women to dress around our husbands and then dress according to that. I know it makes me think!

And I want to know your thoughts-what do you think?

  1. interesting thought... made me think. i really wish i could get it into young women's heads that modesty is important. the problem is, the church here does not really seem to care. so the girls don't watch what they wear and the poor men, my husband included, have to work so hard at diverting their eyes that their focus is often off the sermon etc.

as the mother of a son, i really feel that moms with girls need to instill a sense of modesty in them, for the girl's sake and my son's! and if i have a daughter, i will definitely make this quote part of her education!

Thanks, katie! Enjoy the last stretch till you meet your Elijah!

    1. Yes that is something that can be really hard is in church!

I really agree that it is SO important to instill a sense of modesty in girls (not in a legalistic sense at all though) but just so they realize how much that can effect guys.

Tomorrow is five weeks to go! I am so excited to meet this little man :)

      Blessings girl!!!!

  3. Your husband needs to dress modestly too. There are photos of him on here of him wearing sleeveless shirts. As a female, I find his muscular arms quite attractive and distracting. I'm sure you don't want other women to think of your husband that way.

Women are capable of lusting too, not just men.

    1. Thank you so much for bringing this up. Honestly, I have never really thought about it in that way just because that is something that I do not personally struggle with.
Thank you for letting me know and I apologize about that. I will definitely be more careful in the future.

  4. What a lovely post and blog. I agree that modesty is something that BOTH genders need to be more mindful of. However, maintaining modest thoughts and recognizing immodest thoughts early on are also very important. We must be aware of our thoughts and refrain from them. I find a clean cut gentleman in a fitted suit, which is modest attire, attractive. In the same sense a modest gentleman can find a conservatively modest dressed lady attractive. I have observed this and discussed many instances with teen groups. My point is that regardless of dress, we must be able to recognize and be mindful of our thoughts no matter how others are dressed. While the above commenter (anonymous) finds muscular arms attractive, it is not logical that men with toned muscles to wear long sleeved shirts year round (living in Florida it would be unimaginable, I'm sure) in order to maintain that modesty. Rather, one with modest convictions should strive to redirect their thoughts. I do apologize for the rambling, but it has been a subject I often ponder as I come to find where I stand on the issue.
