Thanksgiving

10:38 AM

Is tomorrow really Thanksgiving? Here in Florida things are a little bit different. Like the fact that it is super warm and sunny still. What is the problem with that you might ask? Well, because we are absolutely lacking in frigidness and snow here my body thinks that it is still summer. It is not possible that Christmas is a mere fourish weeks away!! Is it!?

New seasons in life. New chapters. Well, this is a first in my chapter. Thanksgiving without my family back in NY. And while I do not regret looking like/feeling like this:

But I do miss that cozy feeling as you look at the snow from inside your warm, light filled house. I will miss family. I will miss helping Uncle Doug carve the turkey. I will miss Grandpa Vincent's devotions (this will be our first Thanksgiving with him in heaven). I will miss Grandma's pumkin pie. I will miss our super clean house and the way it looks for the holidays. I will miss looking around the table and being warmed with how loved I am.

I know I am loved but I will miss being there. Instead I am 1,200 miles away. And yet, I know I am loved here as well. We have a wonderful church family as well as amazing friends. God is so good to us!

So I am thankful. I am thankful for my family in NY and I am thankful for my family here in FL. I am thankful for the years that I had full of amazing memories. I am also thankful for the years ahead that will be full of new memories.

I am so thankful for so many things:

  • Jason
  • Elijah :)
  • God's Word
  • Billionth Chances
  • A little house to make into a haven of our own
  • Fun times with my husband just laughing and enjoying eachothers company
  • Pictures
  • Christmas Presents
  • Knowing I will be with family in a few short weeks
  • Amazing friends!
  • Sunny, warm weather!!! :)
  • Laughter
  • Love
  • Hugs
  • Elijah's Kicks
  • A list to get accomplished today
  • Joy that is found in the Lord
  • Being able to seek God's face whenever and wherever I want/need to
  • Home made bread
  • Sour Dough!
  • An amazing midwife :)
  • Freedom to Worship my Savior
  • Old Jimmy Stewart Movies
  • Thrift Stores
  • Cooking
  • Board Games
  • Hot tea on a chilly day
There are so many things to give thanks for! So many opportunities to praise our God! So now it is your turn-what are some things that you are thankful for today? It is really neat to think about our blessings especially since tomorrow is Thanksgiving :)

  1. One thing that has been really great recently is that God has been teaching me things. I'm so thankful for a God who wants to teach me, and cares to just look down at me, to be with me, to hold me in His arms, and to love me. His love is overwhelming.

I am also thankful for my family. We might not always get along perfectly (I don't know any families that do!), but I LOVE them SO much!!

  2. How exciting to find out that you're having a boy! I love the name Elijah too. I'm liking the new blog so far. We don't have a public holiday in England for Thanksgiving but as my husband is American we always celebrate together. So here are my things to be thankful for: my wonderful husband, my developing faith, encouraging blogs, my little house and the many wonderful books that I still have to enjoy. Happy thanksgiving! :)
