When a boy sees snow outside...

9:39 AM

....especially if it is the first real snow of the season-

chances are he will want Daddy to take him outside right away!

So he will get all bundled up,

Say goodbye to his little brother...

and go start exploring this white stuff covering the ground!

Daddy will start making some snowballs-

and while brother watches through the window longingly-

they will start throwing them at each other.

Then, right before they come in-

they will make a mini snowman.

Later on that day, the snow will melt.

A few days later we will have the most beautiful Indian summer for a day.

We had so much fun playing outside in the sunshine!

Mama found this little house the side of the road for free!

Gram came out with us and we had a lovely time,
knowing it was probably the last nice day for the year.

We were right.

Yesterday we got a big snowfall.

But we didn't mind at all!

Daddy made us a snow horse name Maximus!

It was so much fun in the snow but the best part...

was the hot chocolate and mini marshmallows Mama made for us afterwards!

What are your favorite things to do with your family in the snow?
Do you have any special traditions?

  1. My kids (4 and 3 yrs) were fascinated by the snow, as we have none here in Sydney, Australia, and they have never been anywhere that there is snow! They wouldn't mind as many photos of your boy in the snow as you want to share =)

    1. Oh wow! Well, Elijah says that he will try to get Mama to take as many pictures in the snow as she can get! :) That is so cute! :)

  2. Wow, your hubby has some wicked-fine snow horse-making skills! That's unbelievable! Is he artistic in other ways -- painting, drawing, etc.? Your kids are adorable. When my boys were that small, we would spend lots of time in the snow. It's a ton of effort to get all the gear out and clothes on and make sure boots fit and keep them warm and dry, but then you end up with photos like you did and it's all worthwhile. Those are the days you lay your head to rest on the pillow at night and know you are a great parent.

    1. I know right!? He is so funny bc he will say he is NOT artistic and then does something like that! He does paint and draw and is so good at decor etc. very artistic makes me jealous sometimes lol ;)
Thanks for the encouragement too we will definitely keep making memories this winter!! :)

  3. I LOVE the snow horse! That is such a great idea! I love the pictures. Your boys are just way too cute. I can't get over how big they both are. We haven't gotten snow yet but it's been dipping down to 19 degrees at night.

When I was little my dad would mound up the snow to make a little hill so we could sled on it.
My brothers and I would make forts. Due to many aggressive snowball fight related injuries we were not allowed to do that!

When the younger five kids started getting old enough to play in the snow we older siblings would build snowmen for them and pull them on sleds. One of my little brothers would beg and beg to play in the snow only to turn right around and say it was too cold and he wanted to go back inside.

Love the photos so much! Can't wait to see more!
